Big-Ass Week

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

There’s a couple of things coming up this week that we’d like you to know about. You know, just a couple little things.

Today is release day! The physical copy of our new album, “The Better Angels Of Our Nature” comes out today, the 23rd of October. To celebrate, we’re doing an in-store performance at Grimey’s record store at 6pm this evening. If you are one of our many out of town friends, you can order the CD from our online store.

The CD comes in your choice of either steel grey or brick red. This edition is limited to 250 copies, after which new artwork will be introduced. We put a lot of time and effort into screen printing and hand assembling these and we can’t wait for ya’ll to get your hands on one.

On Thursday, October 25th, we will be celebrating the release of our CD at the Basement in Nashville (downstairs form Grimey’s). Hands Down Eugene and Ghostfinger will be on hand to to make the evening a festive event. Did I mention that there will be FREE BBQ? Not only do we hand make CD’s, but we (Joey) make some pretty damn good BBQ. So, come eat it. And buy a CD.

We have also made two old CD’s available: “This Is All We’ve Learned About Living” and “Southern By The Grace Of Location.” We have a very limited number of these left and when they’re gone, they’re gone. There are no plans to re-press these two CD’s anytime soon.

Come see is if you can, we hope you are still enjoying the record. If you haven’t already done so, you can still download it for free.

This is what it’s like

Now that many of ya’ll are enjoying The Better Angels Of Our Nature I want to take a moment and let you know who is responsible for those sweet sounds.

All songs were written by Joey Kneiser except “Bitter Branch” which was written by Todd Beene and Joey Kneiser.

Bingham Barnes played bass guitar.
Todd Beene played guitar, pedal steel guitar, and sang a tiny bit.
Eric Giles played drums.
Joey Kneiser sang and played guitar.
Kelly Kneiser sang and played percussion.
Matt Rowland played piano and organ.

The record was produced by Glossary.

It was recorded by Brian Carter of Paradox Productions in Murfreesboro, TN. Brian tracks on “Emma,” a beautiful 16 track 2 inch Ampex MM-1000 tape machine.

Mixing and mastering were performed by Matthew Louis Pence at the Echolab near Denton, TX. Matt is in Centro-Matic, one of the best rock bands in the world.

CD duplication is being done by Media Omaha.

The first run of packaging was designed by Grand Palace Silkscreen. The photo that’s being used for the cover of this edition was taken by Tara Kneiser of Dixie Pixel Photography.
The second run of packaging is designed by Sasha Barr of the New Year.

As a side note, if you are a graphic artist who has preferably worked within the silkscreen world and is interested in designing cover art, please get in touch with us through the contact page with a link to samples of your work. Thank you!

Joey’s Update

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Hey Y’all!
So we can’t say enough about The Lucero Family Picnic, just make sure you get to Batesville if they have one next year. We want to thank everyone in the fine state of Arkansas who blessed us with their presence over the weekend. We had too much fun, and we’re still feeling a lingering intoxication. Thanks to Lucero for throwing such a sweet hang and letting us be a part of it. It was great to reunite with old friends and add new ones to the pile.

Also thanks to Matt White and all the fine people at the White Water Tavern. If you
haven’t been to the White Water you’re really missing out. I think it just might be our favorite bar. . .

We also can’t say enough about Two Cow Garage. They have become part of our family and they’re one of the best rock bands on the road.
Next we wanted to let everyone know that Oct. 2nd is the day when our new record “The Better Angels Of Our Nature” will be posted here on our site for free. We’re all really excited and very happy with the way it turned out, and can’t wait for y’all to get to hear it.
This record reunited us with Brian Carter from How We Handle Our Midnights and Matt Pence from For What I Don’t Become. Brian tracked the new record and Matt mixed and mastered it.

For anyone wanting the physical record, don’t worry, it will be available Oct. 23. Every 200 of them will have different artwork by different artists. That following Friday, Oct.
26th, we are having our cd release show at The Basement. I’m going to cook up some BBQ for everyone, and our good friends in Hands Down Eugene and Ghostfinger will be on hand to help us rock it into the night.

Also look for us on the East Coast at the beginning of November. We’ll have the dates posted as soon as we get them.
Well, I guess that’s everything. We plan on being really busy this Fall so keep a look out. We hope all is well.
